The second meet of the season came to a conclusion Saturday with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s cross country teams competing in the 20th-annual Iona Meet of Champions.
Overall, the men’s team finished 15th out of 23 schools in a field full of stiff competition from all over the East Coast. Ray Ofman (senior, sports administration) was able to finish in the top 50 in a field of 208 runners with a time of 26:44, good enough for 37th overall. The two other top finishers for IUP were Greg Beaudette (sophomore, exercise science) with a time of 27:57, good enough for 93rd, followed by Caleb Cordell (junior, computer science), with a time of 28:12, placing him right inside the top 100 at 99th.
The women’s team was able to finish 13th out of 20 total teams, with Rachel Magliane (junior, dietetics) finishing in the top 25 with a time of 23:16, good enough to get 24th. The other top performances for the women’s team included Marina Wareham (sophomore, exercise science) at 61st and Yelena Share (senior, dietetics) finishing 82nd.
The men’s and women’s teams will travel to Louisville for their next meet Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Greater Louisville Classic in what should be one of their toughest meets of the season.
