The athletics department of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, along with Global Spectrum, will once again be running promotions during home games throughout the 2014 season.
The season opener against St. Augustine’s University Sept. 6 will be featured as the annual Football Alumni Game. This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1964 team, which will be honored during the game. The 1964 team was the first to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Championship.
The season opener will also be Volunteer Day, during which IUP will honor the volunteers in Indiana.
Three promotions – the annual Hall of Fame Game, a White Out and Scout Day – will be held during the Sept. 27 game against Mercyhurst University.
During the game, 18 former coaches and student athletes will be introduced at halftime and inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Boy and Girl Scouts from all over Western Pennsylvania will be acknowledged.
The homecoming game is scheduled for Oct. 11 against Seton Hill University. Activities will begin an hour prior to kickoff that day, and fans are encouraged to show their school spirit during Spirit Week leading up to the game.
IUP will feature a Red Out during its matchup against longtime rival Slippery Rock University Oct. 25, as fans will be asked to wear crimson colors in support of their team. The President’s Office is also featuring an Employee Appreciation Day for this matchup, and all IUP employees will be offered free admission. Additionally, a portion of ticket proceeds from the game will be donated to the American Cancer Society as part of IUP’s Hawks for PINK! promotional program for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
IUP’s game against Clarion University will be held during Military Appreciation Day: Nov. 1. Active military and veterans will be admitted to the game for free, and their family members will receive a discount on ticket prices.
Nov. 1 is also IUP Family Athletics Day.
Family members of IUP student-athletes will be invited to the game.
New to the promotion lineup this season are the Lil’ Hawks Kids Club and the Fan Fun Zone.
The Lil’ Hawks Kids Club is for children 12 and under. Members will receive a membership card and a bag of promotional items including a t-shirt, water bottle and team poster. Members will also receive half-off tickets at all home games.
Events for the whole family will be at the Fan Fun Zone during all home games.
