A suspect has been identified in an attempted kidnapping on South Carpenter Avenue near Philadelphia Street at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, according to an Indiana Borough Police Department incident report.
An unidentified female reported that a hispanic man grabbed her around her neck and attempted to pull her into a running vehicle, according to the report.
The woman was able to scream and break free, the report said, and the suspect jumped into the rear of the car and fled the scene.
Catalino Hernandez Vijil was arrested on charges of criminal attempt-kidnapping, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, simple assault and harassment, according to a district court docket.
He was identified by police through video images from a camera at a local business and several witness reports.
