The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Panhellenic Association Spring Recruitment week kicked off Sunday, Jan. 26, and will continue until Sunday, Feb. 2.
Between 150 and 200 potential sorority members preregistered and came to Monday evening’s event, according to Devin Basile, graduate adviser for the Panhellenic Association.
The event included a “meet & greet” between potential sorority members and six of the 11 Panhellenic sororities at IUP, Basile said.
“There are six sororities holding events [Monday night],” he said, “and the remaining five will go [Tuesday night], and that will ensure that we give the potential new members – women going through the recruitment process – ample opportunity to meet all the chapters and get to know what each chapter is about.”
The 11 social chapters will hold events throughout the week until Saturday and Sunday when the women will receive bids and/or reveal what chapters they decided to join, according to Basile.
The Panhellenic Association opens its registration each fall online at its Greek Life Web Page prior to the spring recruitment. Throughout the fall semester, those that registered receive emails and updates from the Panhellenic Association about open houses, holiday previews, events, etc.
