The new Hadley Union Building gymnasium, which has been under construction since 2012, is now ope n to students. The building is located on Seventh Street behind the HUB and has two sections.
The first part of the building is a gym that includes three full-size basketball courts, five full-size volleyball courts, areas to play racquetball and a one-tenth mile indoor track.
The second part of the building includes around 74 apartments rented by Philadelphia Square.
“We’re really excited about this building,” Michael Carnovale, director of campus recreation for the Student Cooperative Association, said. “The indoor track is something that is much needed on this campus.”
This facility is available to all Indiana University of Pennsylvania students. Students must have their I-Card to access the facility.
“I believe on any college campus, you’ll find that there isn’t enough gym space,” Carnovale said. “We really had that problem at IUP. So adding three full-sized basketball courts is really an upgrade.”
Hours of operation for the HUB Gym are: Monday through Friday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
