Intramural basketball still available for IUP students

The IUP intramural basketball league is still open to teams and players who want to join.

According to the IUP Student Organizations website, the intramural program aims, “to provide a broad recreational program that will meet the demands, needs and interests of every IUPstudent.

“The program is designed to develop skills and recreational activities which can be utilized throughout life.”

The intramural department has created two easy and convenient ways for you to join.

The first way is for the team captain to go to www.imleagues.com/iup, then create an account to create your team and invite the players you want on your team through Facebook.

The second way is to create an account on the website and create an open team.

With an open team, anyone is free to join. People without a team will be listed on the website as free agents.

After creating an account, the website will create a profile for you and keep track of you and your team’s stats throughout the season.

It will also track a student’s career in intramural basketball at IUP.

The cost to join is $20 and is open to anyone who is not a member of the IUP basketball team.

Practices are scheduled by the teams to hold at the most convenient time for all members of the team.

The deadline to join is Oct. 10 and the first game will be played Oct. 15 in Zink Hall.

“It’s a very competitive league and [it’s] there for the enjoyment of the students involved,” IUP Director of Campus Recreation Mike Carnovale said.
